Android core development tools: Instructions for Windows 7

First things first, developing Android applications requires several development tools or (SDKs – software development kits)

These are tools relevant in April 2013 using a Windows 7 platform.

  • Java 7 SDK.  Java is at the core of anything you need to do, so the complete Standard SDK is required.
  • The Eclipse IDE is the preferred development tool in Windows 7
  • The Google ADT plug-in for eclipse is required for developing using a GUI interface
